Israel - God’s Inheritance
At the Exodus Israel became a national entity that was to become Jehovah's inheritance (1 Sam 10:1; Ps. 78:71).
In Revelation 15:3 the apostle John referred to the song of Moses that the 144000 are singing. That was the song the Israelites joyously sang, as they emerged from Egyptian bondage -Exodus 15.
Right from their Exodus Jehovah had prepared the mountain of His inheritance where he intended to plant Israel, His inheritance.
16 This Until your people pass by, O Jehovah,
Until the people whom you have produced pass by.
17 you will bring them and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance,
An established place that you have made ready for you to inhabit,
A sanctuary, O Jehovah, that your hands have established.
18 Jehovah will rule as king to time indefinite, even forever.
This had nothing to do with any literal mountain in Salem, which was not captured until some 443 years later when David captured MT. Zion.
Even more significantly is the expression to time indefinite, even forever in verse 18, where two different Hebrew words appear in a phrase that is never used with reference to any obligation placed on the people Israel including circumcision and Sabbath observation, from the time of the Exodus to the arrival of heir Messiah.
Two different Hebrew words combine here to make the place and permanence of Israel's dwelling a God-given certainty.
This ties in well with the kingdom that will never be brought to ruin of Daniel 2:44 and Revelation 22:3-5, though some administrative aspects of it shall.
9 For Jehovah’s share is his people; Jacob is the allotment that he inherits. (Deuteronomy 32:9)
So Israel was destined to continue from the Exodus to their final presence within the heavenly realm as Jehovah's everlasting Inheritance.
More about God's Inheritance Israel, the permanence of that relationship
and about the covenant kept in force to the end of the 70th week of Daniel Chapter 9 verse 27a.
Written originally Feb 2007 in an appeal to those teaching Jehovah's Witnesses, edited a little since.
Many a mile of Bible reading has passed under the bridge since my earlier approaches to you about the nature of that covenant kept in force for one week of Daniel 9:27a, which prompted me to write to you over the intervening years on matters Israel and the whole of Jehovah's sacred secret revolving around it and the Christ.
Much of that would already impact on a clarification of the keeping the covenant in force for the many for one week point made by you in the Daniel book.
However, although having read the Bible regularly, it was only recently that this very interesting and absolutely crucial clarifying verse shot up from the page of God's word into specific focus: Deuteronomy 5:3.
But first some contextually significant verses leading up to and including that verse, where we have the perfect connection between THE Covenant and the law that was subsequently covenanted separately between Jehovah and Israel. This connection is made by the xrefs, which were demanded of the translators of the NWT by the context.
These xrefs bring the seeker of truth invariably to THE Covenant of Exodus 19:5, 6:
(Deuteronomy 4:11-13) 11 “So you people came near and stood at the base of the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire up to midheaven; there was darkness, cloud and thick gloom. 12 And Jehovah began to speak to you out of the middle of the fire. The sound of words was what you were hearing, but no form were you seeing—nothing but a voice. 13 And he proceeded to state to you his covenant, xref. . .
(Deuteronomy 4:23) 23 Watch out for yourselves that you may not forget the covenant of Jehovah your God that he concluded with you xref . . .
and here is that significant verse:
(Deuteronomy 5:1-3) 5 And Moses proceeded to call all Israel and to say to them: “Hear, O Israel, the regulations and the judicial decisions that I am speaking in your ears today, and you must learn them and be careful to do them. 2 Jehovah our God concluded a covenant with us in Ho´reb. xref 3 It was not with our forefathers that Jehovah concluded this covenant, but with us, all those of us alive here today.
xref (Exodus 19:5) And now if you will strictly obey my voice and will indeed keep my covenant, then you will certainly become my special property out of all [other] peoples, because the whole earth belongs to me.
Note the phrase In Deut 5:3 above: 3 It was not with our forefathers that Jehovah concluded this covenant, but with us, all those of us alive here today.
you insisted even in your reply that the covenant referred to in Daniel 9:27 was the Abrahamic one, the very point you had made in the Daniel book and which I was endeavoring to encourage you to correct in the first place.
This and the intimate connection between it and Exodus 19:5 is a sure indication that the covenant in the following statement: (Daniel 9:27) 27 “And he must keep [the] covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease.. . . is that very covenant referred in the verses just cited and not the Abrahamic covenant we JWs have mistakenly attached to Daniel 9:27.
That covenant made with Abraham and repeated . . . -why not let the Insight Volume 1 have a say:

The covenant promises were passed on to Abraham’s posterity through Isaac (Ge 26:2-4) and Jacob. (Ge 28:13-15; 35:11, 12)
Yes, it was made with the forefathers of those assembled on the plain of Horeb in front of Mt. Sinai, but not with those assembled.
Yes, this covenant at Sinai: 3 It was not with our forefathers that Jehovah concluded this covenant, but with us, all those of us alive here today. -Deuteronomy 5:3.
Though the law was until John and was finally annulled or nailed to the torture stake (colloquially: cross), it continued to hold out the inherited and special privileges associated with the promise of becoming a Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation exclusively for the natural descendants of Jacob until the end of the 70th week of years when finally the same privileges were held out to Cornelius and family as the first of many Gentiles who were to make up Israel's lack until the number was completed. -Luke 16:16-17; Matthew 11:12-13; Daniel 9:27; See also Romans 11.

(Colossians 2:14) . . .blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake. xref . .
xref (Galatians 3:13) Christ by purchase released us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written: “Accursed is every man hanged upon a stake.”
xref (Hebrews 9:15) So that is why he is a mediator of a new covenant, in order that, because a death has occurred for [their] release by ransom from the transgressions under the former covenant, the ones who have been called might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance.
xref (1 Peter 2:24) He himself bore our sins in his own body upon the stake, in order that we might be done with sins and live to righteousness. And “by his stripes you were healed.”
The context surrounding Daniel 9:27 significantly determine to whom the 70 weeks apply and the nature of the covenant of verse 27. First there is Daniel’s prayer recorded in verses 4-19:
(Daniel 9:4-5) . . .“Ah Jehovah the [true] God, the great One and the fear-inspiring One, keeping the covenant and the loving-kindness to those loving him and to those keeping his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled; and there has been a turning aside from your commandments and from your judicial decisions.. . .
-Even here the keeping of His commandments is connected to covenant. Keeping these was impossible before Exodus 19, so the covenant here must refer to that one rather than the Abrahamic one, which incidentally was to run until the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ when all the families of the earth are finally able to bless themselves by means of Abraham's seed.
Then came Gabriel's response with a specific focus on verse 24:
(Daniel 9:24) 24 “There are seventy weeks that have been determined upon your people and upon your holy city, in order to terminate the transgression, and to finish off sin, and to make atonement for error, and to bring in righteousness for times indefinite, and to imprint a seal upon vision and prophet, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.
The preceding verse clearly demonstrates that the 70 weeks prophecy was/is uniquely and exclusively connected to Daniel's People Israel, Jehovah's firstborn son, His special possession, inheritance and private property.
Note also to terminate the transgression, and to finish off sin, which was only in connection with the Law, because no law – no transgression -Romans 4:15; 5:13.
(Deuteronomy 4:20) 20 But you are the ones Jehovah took that he might bring you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to become a people of private ownership to him as at this day.
(Deuteronomy 9:26) 26 And I began to make supplication to Jehovah and to say, ‘O Sovereign Lord Jehovah, do not bring to ruin your people, even your private property, whom you redeemed with your greatness, whom you brought out of Egypt with a strong hand. . .
(Deuteronomy 9:29) 29 They are, too, your people and your private property whom you brought out with your great power and your outstretched arm.’. . .
These verses pinpoint the Exodus as the time of Israel becoming His private property, as so beautifully, meaningfully and prophetically sung in their Victory Song of Exodus chapter 15, which is that song of Moses of Revelation 15:3 sung by that very same Israel finally located on Heavenly MT. Zion -Hebrews 12:22-24; Rev 14;1-5.
It also was the time of that covenant Jehovah made with the people whom He had acquired . . (Exodus 15:16 +fn., 19:3-8) and referred to in Daniel 9:27.
In addition to the clear evidence presented above, and as suggested in my original letter, on the basis of the scriptural evidence it is impossible for the covenant of Daniel 9:27 to mean the Abrahamic covenant, since that continues to run until the destruction of all God's enemies and the blessing of the families of the earth have been accomplished. (IT Vol.ume 1, Page 522, Paragraph 7) and that the end of that final week of the 70 has no definitive time marker within that chronologically larger Abrahamic covenant.
I think the time has come for you to admit, not so much that I am right, but rather that you were/are wrong and Jehovah is right always and consistently so always. An apology to the global brotherhood would not be altogether unwelcome either.

The 15/01/07 WT Page 23 Par 10 quotes from 1 Peter 5:7:
“He cares for you,” says 1 Peter 5:7.
The actual passage, however, says:
7 while YOU throw all YOUR anxiety upon him, because he cares for YOU.. . .
The plural you intrigued me as usual, because Peter was encouraging those who were natural Israelites, having been especially sent to them -Galatians 2:7-8.
Yes, Jehovah does care, but these words are addressed exclusively to the congregation of Israel for whom the Passover lamb Jesus had died and which now belongs to the Christ who had purchased it.
We (JWs) keep on tickling ears with all manner of pacifiers and emotional applications of Scripture to those of mankind not of that congregation. That is inappropriately unfair and unscriptural. What will really comfort those desiring to live on earth forever, is the truth.
The only reason and purpose for the existence of the Israel of God, the congregation of anointed brothers of the Christ, is as the means to facilitate and restore the opportunity for sons of men to live indefinitely long on earth. That is their unique purpose.
They exist solely to serve the earthies, not the other way around. The earthies may assist the anointed to spread the good news of a change to better times soon to be realized, but it is the anointed who actually serve for the needs and benefit of the earthies. This should curb any prideful ambition and any tendency for overlording the anointed may secretly harbor, which is actually exacerbated by their relatively dominant places in the organizational scheme of things theocratic.* see footnote
They, this Israel, are however especially loved by Jehovah as His firstborn son and treasured as His special people, possession, inheritance and private property.
To misapply 1 Peter 5:7 to include the earthies, apart from ear-tickling, almost borders on blasphemy, since it completely denigrates this treasured relationship Jehovah has with His special possession Israel.
1 Peter 5:3 contextually bears this out: 3 neither as lording it over those who are God’s inheritance, xref . The earthies are not God's inheritance.
xref (Psalm 33:12) 12 Happy is the nation whose God is Jehovah, The people whom he has chosen as his inheritance. xref
xref (Psalm 135:4) For Jah has chosen even Jacob for himself, Israel for his special property xref.
(1 Peter 2:9) But you are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation xref, a people for special possession xref, that you should declare abroad the excellencies” of the one that called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
xref (Exodus 19:5) And now if you will strictly obey my voice and will indeed keep my covenant, then you will certainly become my special property out of all [other] peoples, because the whole earth belongs to me.
xref (Exodus 19:6) And you yourselves will become to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the sons of Israel.”
Peter's expression he cares for you was thus not addressed to just anyone believing in God or any human for that matter, but only to Israel, His love and firstborn son, as are all his epistles and those of Paul and John.
The context has it:
They are going to heaven,
will be with their Lord Christ Jesus who invited them there,
rule as Kings,
will judge angels,
receive new bodies,
receive immortality and incorruption.
come to life and rule with Christ for a 1000 years
then at the end of their assignment hand it all back to God
Jehovah God loved them and the structured world He created for them so much, that
He gave His only begotten son exclusively for them.
-John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 5:7; Hebrews 9:15.
Please, may you listen to what the Spirit says to the Congregation of God.
footnote * Since the time this letter was written to the Watchtower Society's supervising body, I no longer support that the anointed heirs of the heavenly kingdom are exclusively situated within the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, known globally as Jehovah's Witnesses. Though in the early days of The Bible Students, particularly while under the leadership of Charles Taze Russell, many in that group may very well have been of the saints or anointed ones, there would have been many others outside of that group equally called by God at a time of great stirrings and proliferating expectations of and hopes in the return of the Christ to make up the number of those relatively few chosen ones. Who those are of the anointed (christian) called ones at the present time only God
knows and those whom he called.
They are scattered throughout the Christian realm. Jehovah judges them by their devoted relationship with Him and not by their denominational stance. Israel were rebellious and disobedient, yet God sent the Christ to and for them. Saul of Tarsus was judged favorably by Jehovah for his complete and utter devotion to his God and subsequently became the apostle Paul in spite of having persecuted and helped kill many of those of Israel who had accepted their Messiah, because he did this out of his deepest devotion and his desire to defend God.
Old Testament expressions relative to God's Inheritance Israel

Of special interest in this context must be the prophetic parable of the vineyard of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 21 with a particular focus on verse 38 ASV: But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. and Luke 19 verse 14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. Ac 20:32 "And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Ac 26:18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’
Ga 3:18 For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.
Eph 1:11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
